What are the details about the '08 July UF. Is there an itinerary, or schedule that I can see. I would love to be there, but need details of the location, dates etc.

Groove on!!

My brother and I are in. We'll probably bring some friends with us again. So, let the planning begin!

I too like how Texas is shaped, however, is there a person in charge of the Ultimate 2008 for information on when I'm going there? Or should all of us be a little patient and simply set aside the weekend of July 18, 19, and 20? I don't need much. A place and time where we're meeting. I figure it'll be just like waterskiing.

Have there been any concrete plans made for the ultimate fandango 08’ ? I’m going to try and make it with a group of between 4 and 8 people. We are thinking of bringing an RV to simplify things because of the size of our group. I know that El Paso is the starting point but I don’t know anything else. I’ve been to some of the places on my own (alpine, terlingua, marathon) what are the other stops? Look forward to meeting everyone and being more active on the message board.

I hope you get a really fast RV! And don't even try to keep up with Jeff#2!

Hey we made some great time though!

Now we can bring cars that will be able to "keep up” but it will take 4 of them to fit all the friends.

Just FYI the fastest speeding ticked ever issued in the USA was given in 2003 going west out of El Paso on I-10 it was a 242 in a 75.

We may not be able to go that fast but 160+ defiantly within reach.

Flying isn't a problem, flying like Truman.... probably not going to happen!

Who did the flying in the movie? Aviation in Texas is such a small community I’m sure I’ve run across him at some point.

That sounds like a good idea to me. Let's get his son out there for the trip.

Unfortunately Rande lost his fight with cancer several years back. His nephew is a frequent visitor to the site and carries his memory with pride. Perhaps we should consider dedicating the Ultimate Fandango 2008 to the memory of Rande De Luca, stunt pilot extraordinaire. Just a thought!

Wow, he died in 86' that's a real shame. Because of my connection with aviation I’ve always wanted to know more about him.

What happened to the airplane? If anyone has a registration or serial number for it I can track it down. That would be a really nice piece of memorabilia!

Well it looks like the airplane is still in the DeLuca family. According to the FAA records it's a 1967 K model 182 registered to Sam DeLuca in Cali. I don't know if Sam would be willing to part with it. I wouldn't think so but depending on engine times and radios it's worth between 50 and 80.

I believe it's the same airplane not just because it's in the DeLuca Family but also because an airplane with the same registration and serial number was damaged during a hard landing in 1971 also in Cali.

It's a good bet she's still airworthy. I hope they still use her and she's not just corroding away in some hanger or left on some desolate strip.

If the paint on it has changed i know of a place we could have it painted.
